Take your child to the library day

TakeYourChildToTheLibraryFebruary 1, 2014, is Take Your Child to the Library Day! It’s a way for libraries to welcome and encourage families to become regular library users by celebrating and showing what they have to offer. Connecticut librarians Nadine Lipman and Caitlin Augusta initiated the first Take Your Child to the Library Day on February 4, 2012. This annual celebration takes place on the first Saturday in February.

Though our local Wake County Libraries aren’t having specific celebrations, you can still participate with your child. One way for your family to celebrate the day is to attend the Family Story Hour at the Cary Community Library (on Academy St) on Saturday, February 1, 2014, from 10:30-10:55. If your child doesn’t have a library card, this would be a perfect opportunity to get one.

This is a great way to promote literacy and just how wonderful of a resource libraries are.
