Kid-friendly nonfiction resources

ClipArt_newspaperYou may have noticed a change in some of the texts your child has been reading this year (and last year). With the introduction of Common Core Curriculum, half of the texts that students read should be nonfiction.

When it comes to reading nonfiction, many students enjoy learning about current events. Two great sites that contain “kid-friendly” current events are: TweenTribune and NewsELA. You can also find these links (along with other nonfiction resources) on the Cary Elementary Media Center website under “Reading Links.”
