Recycled Animal Art

Each year, Cary Elementary fifth graders take part in a special project with local artist Bryant Holsenbeck. Under Ms. Holsenbeck’s direction, the fifth graders will be making animals out of recycled materials. This is something the students look forward to every year, but we need your assistance to help make this a success. We need donations of the following:

  • Yarn, lots and lots of yarn
  • Plastic grocery bags (We need huge quantities of these, so don’t be shy!)
  • Ribbon
  • Woven material (we need to be able to rip it into strips)
  • Beads
  • Buttons
  • Baubles or broken jewelry

Recycled Animal Art week is April 7- 11 (the week we return from spring break), so please send in materials this week or the week after Spring Break. If you would be interested in volunteering that week of April 7, please contact Mrs. Beard at
