School psychologists are in a unique role to facilitate students’ connections within Wake County Public Schools. In WCPSS, approximately 90 school psychologists work directly with students to provide educational assessments, guide learning strategies and problem solving skills, lead individual and group skills development sessions, and help students develop positive self-concepts by linking efforts to achievements.
School psychologists also consult and collaborate with teachers, counselors, aides, administrators, and parents to provide services such as serving on school problem solving and leadership teams, analyzing and explaining educational data, helping to develop classroom accommodations and modifications, and meeting with parents. School psychologists also support academic achievement, positive behavior, and mental wellness of all WCPSS students, especially those who struggle with barriers to learning.
Kim Getty is the school psychologist at Cary Elementary. If you would like to connect with her, please give her a call at 919-460-3421 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org. She would love to hear from you!
