UPCOMING SPECIAL EDUCATION PARENT TRAINING SESSIONS

Information Sessions will be offered for families of Special Education students.

Dates Session Topics
Feb. 21 I Think My Child Needs an IEP This session provides information about the referral process and practice for parents in framing their concerns to be shared with the school.
Fe. 26 Preschool IEP Process – Connecting the Dots This session will provide families of preschool-aged children information about the “ins and outs” of the IEP process including what to expect at your meeting, how decisions are made, and services available to student.
March 7 Getting Ready for Life After High School This session provides information about, and links to, agencies that support post-school living, continued learning, and community participation.
March 13 Transitioning to Kindergarten This session will provide families with information about the transition to kindergarten IEP process to support your role as a team member and an informed and empowered parent.
March 14 Understanding My Child’s IEP This session provides parents of children already served in special education with detailed information about the various parts of the IEP and the parent’s role in each part.
April 16 Preschool IEP Process – Connecting the Dots This session will provide families of preschool-aged children information about the “ins and outs” of the IEP process including what to expect at your meeting, how decisions are made, and services available to student.
April 18 Parent Advocacy in Special Education This session provides parents of children already served in special education with information about, and in, skills parents need to advocate for their child with a disability.
May 2 Understanding Related Services This session provides parents of children already served in special education with information about related services and answers to frequently asked questions about these services.  Related services include:  speech, occupational, and physical therapies, assistive technology, and special transportation.
