Cary Elem. 5th grade end of year events – Congratulations Class of 2028!

Hello 5th grade families,

As our unique school year approaches the end, we wanted to give you the details for the plans we have to celebrate our 5th graders as they finish their time at Cary Elementary.  While many of you have been part of our CES family since kindergarten, others may have joined us this year. Regardless of the number of years, you all are an important part of our school family.  Cary Elementary is a special place for many and as our 5th graders move on to middle school we would like to send them off in style with some good last memories.

Our school leadership has worked with our teachers, PTA, and parents to create some plans that we hope will be fun and meaningful to our students and families, while we also continue to adhere to the social distancing and safety guidelines that remain in place.

More details will come as we get closer to the last week of school but for your planning purposes please see the below schedule of events:

Week of June 7:

June 9-11   A display will be present at the front of the school that recognizes our 5th graders. This will be a great photo opportunity for families to park and take pictures.

Wednesday, June 9   Teacher and Principal messages/speeches will come in a video

by email.

Friday, June 11, 9:30-10:30 5th grade Celebration Parade -Cary Elem. parking lot

– Families should enter the back parking lot on Faculty Ave (carpool lot where you came for student item pick-up-not front lot)

– Follow the carpool route, exit lot, back onto road, quick right turn behind

Cary Art Center, through front lot, then exit with right turn onto Kildaire

Farm Rd. (map on CES website top https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_jHb-Os5r6d9TvYqyjTzrh9yc6sOT8YN/view

– To support traffic flow and avoid back-ups on public roads:

            – Please exit onto Kildaire with a right turn only

            – Keep moving and stops to a minimum as you go through the lot if

there is a long line (some pictures are great of course)

– Stagger your arrival time – this doesn’t have to be a 9:30 start for all as coming a little later will help prevent a long back-up/lines/delays

– Please stay in the car – we will have some places along the line for “photo ops”

– Do not line up prior to 9:30 – to get the full affect we don’t want to load the parking lot ahead of time.  Please circle the block if you arrive early.

– Please circle the block if you arrive and there is a line backed out onto the road to help prevent back-ups and thru-traffic blocking

– Items can be turned in at the end of the route/front of main office

Fun stuff:

5th grade t-shirts – They look great! Please wear these during the parade event.

Car decorations – have fun and decorate your car if you choose – keep them safe to drive of course.

Car signs – Please use paper and dark marker (or as creative as you’d like)

Write the student name and post on the front or side window so our staff can easily know which great student is inside.

Surprises – there will be some other things this day and week that you’ll either get more details on later or may just stay a surprise.

*I apologize for the long email but as you can tell, we’ve worked hard on many details to hopefully create some fun and memorable moments for our 5th graders that are also safe and efficient for all involved.  Feel free to let me or your classroom teacher know if you have any questions and thank you to all who have helped with the planning and implementation.

Thank you and congratulations Class of 2028,

Rod Stanton – Principal
